Settings

The projectionbooth.

Your settings, for your library only. Films are made free by the StoryReel Studio — or start at once with your own Claude key. Pick your defaults, carry your library to another device, and meet the voices.

01Bring your own key

Your Claude key

Optional. Without a key, your films are made free by the StoryReel Studio and wait their turn in its queue. Add your own Anthropic key to skip the queue: Claude adapts your book on the spot.

The terms

  • Used only for your books

Only films you make from this library use it — never anyone else’s requests.

  • Stored encrypted

Encrypted on the server and never shown again in full — only its last four characters.

  • Films start immediately

No queue: Claude starts adapting Part 1 the moment you press Make it a movie.

  • You pay Anthropic directly

Usage is billed to your Anthropic account. Every studio shows the estimated cost before you start.

Remove your API key?

It’s deleted from the server. Claude models are locked until you add a key again; the free StoryReel Studio and Offline preview keep working. Films you’ve already made are not affected.

02Defaults

New-film defaults

Pre-selected in every studio. You can still change them per film.

03Your library

Your library

Your books and films live on this StoryReel server, in a library only you can open.

Library ID

There’s no account: a private cookie ties this browser to your library. Keep the ID somewhere safe — it’s how you get your books back on another device, or after clearing your cookies. Anyone with it can open your library, so treat it like a password.

Paste the ID you copied on your other device. This browser switches to that library; the current one stays on the server.

Switch to that library?

This browser will show that library’s books, films and key settings instead of the current ones. Nothing is deleted — to come back, open this library again with its ID, so copy it first if you haven’t.

04Voices

Natural voices

Who reads your films aloud. Press any voice to hear it.

Films are narrated by Kokoro, a neural voice engine running on this server — no third-party speech service. Every character gets their own voice, the narrator gets the best one, and exported videos include the narration.

Switch between Natural and System voices, pick an accent and the narration speed from the Voice menu in the player.

05Privacy

Who sees your books

What leaves this browser, where it goes, and what stays.

Your library
Private. Your books and films are only shown to browsers holding your library ID — nobody else on this server can list or open them.
Studio requests
Only the parts that get made. The text of the parts being adapted is processed by the StoryReel Studio — Claude, run by this service’s operator — and the finished screenplay is added to your library.
Your own key
Sent with your key, to Anthropic. Book text goes to Anthropic’s API, again only for the parts that get made. Your key is stored encrypted, used only for your books, and the browser only ever sees its last four characters.
Offline preview
No AI service at all. It runs on this server from the book alone.
Voices & score
Made here. Narration is generated on this server by the natural voice engine (or your device’s own speech voices), and the score is synthesized live in your browser.
Quizzes & cards
Stay in this browser. Quiz answers and flashcard progress never leave it.

How it works

From pageto screen.

You don’t wait for the whole book. See it on the homepage

  1. One

    The book

Drop in a DRM-free EPUB, a PDF textbook, or plain .txt and .md course notes. StoryReel reads the chapters, the figures and the metadata into your private library.

  2. Two

    Part one

The first twenty-five pages or so become Part 1 — free through the StoryReel Studio queue, or right away with your own Claude key. Stories get a cast and scenes; textbooks get a teacher, a board and quizzes.

  3. Three

    The rest

Press play as soon as Part 1 lands. While you watch, the next parts are made ahead of you — like a video buffering — and read aloud by natural voices.
